Everyone enjoys a good, home-cooked meal. Unfortunately, not everyone has the time to prepare them. While freezer meals can easily save you the trouble, there are other ways to get healthy meals fast.
Plan Your Meals
Meal planning gives you two major benefits. The first one is that you will spend less on your groceries. By having a plan, you eliminate buying extra “just in case”. The second benefit is that you can prepare your meals ahead of time, tailoring them to suit your anticipated schedules.
The bonus benefit: if you have leftovers, you can easily plan around those, too, by either incorporating them into your next meal or making something entirely new out of a combination of different leftovers!
Pre-Cook Your Meals
If you pre-plan your meals, you know what you will need for several different recipes well ahead of time. For meals that include chicken, pork, or beef, you can pre-cook them in one go and then portion them out for each meal. This allows you to get the meats cooked well, ensuring they are nice and tender by the time you add them to your final dish.
Another advantage to this is that you are likely to have a little extra broth left over after this process. If you don’t use it immediately, you can save the lot for later—just put them in the freezer—and make an extra tasty soup.
You don’t have to just pre-plan or pre-cook the meals you will immediately consume. For this, however, you need to have adequate freezer space.
The first thing most people prepare in large quantities is soup. You can make one in a large batch, portion it out according to serving, and freeze these servings in sealed containers or Ziploc bags. Meats, if you pre-cooked extra that you won’t immediately use, can be frozen in predetermined portions.

Buy enamel pie dishes and other cookware to heat your food quickly and will look nice going from the stove to the table. Not only would this save you time preparing food, but it will also save you time getting it served.
